Overloading by power strips: underestimated danger in the home and office
Many people use power strips to connect multiple appliances. Convenient? Definitely. But did you know that improper use of power strips poses a serious risk to electrical safety?
Why overloading is dangerous
Power strips are designed for light household use. However, when you connect several power-hungry appliances - such as electric stoves, kettles or washing machines - at the same time, the block can become overloaded. This leads to overheating and, in the worst case, even a fire.
Pay attention to quality
Cheap or fake plug blocks often lack essential safeguards. Poorly soldered connections and thin wiring can fail within a short time. Always choose a power strip with a quality mark and thermal protection.
Series sockets? Don't!
Looping multiple power strips significantly increases the risk of short circuits. Connect only one power strip per socket to ensure the safety of your installation.
